#58399 Management Changes

Posted by trecoll on 04 March 2016 - 10:29 am

Well, It's March. I've had the e-mail.

All of the "original members", everyone high up on the overall top posters list, have grown up. At least mostly.

I got married last year, Dave, Azza and Nathan have had kids, Simmo is in Australia getting married there! What I'm getting at is we can't afford to do anything to our cars these days!

Then there is Facebook, ah Facebook. The death of forums as we know them.

But, as I refuse to give up, I will keep fighting, I'm not going to lose the 55 THOUSAND posts we have on here. I'm still proud of the once tight community I started here. I have made some very good friends through this forum, some enemies too probably lol.

I'll renew the license for another 6 months, perform the upgrade to IPB 4 with a modern looking theme and mobile compatibility. Then I'll look to see if we can add any social features that might improve activeness of members past, present and future!

We'll hold in there!

#58249 Silver ST3

Posted by Medium on 12 November 2015 - 12:27 am

OK I'm almost a Ford owner again!

Following on from my thread in the discussioms board I thought I'd start a project log as I'll hopefully keep this for longer than a year!

So, fingers crossed, if I can leave work in time tomorrow (if not it'll have to be Saturday :blub:), I should be collecting this:

ST3, 30k miles and 2 owners.

I've already started gathering a few bits for the arrival:

- ITG panel filter

- Alloy heater control knobs (saw these on Adam's peoject thread and I've stolen the idea :nakkal: , sorry dude, but they look SO much better than standard!)

- Red 501's for the footwell lights

- '7000k' 501's for sidelights; they're actually no where near as blue on the car once lit up; good match to xennons for standard fiilament bulbs

- Silvatec 501's for the mirror side indicators

- Silvatec's for the rear indicators too.

Also waiting on some standard wing indicators to do away with the chrome ST badges on the side (sorrry guys, but they are pretty tacky... :oh:).

After that I think Eibach springs and either paint standard alloys darker or go for some gunmetal Bola B10's.

Roll on tomorrow :gr8:

#57325 New sail flag donation goal!

Posted by jam53ice on 12 October 2014 - 09:48 am

With the 2014 show season now over, we would like to start preparing for the 2015 show season and what better way than a new sail flag!

We currently do not have one and I'd like to get one set up before the start of the show season next year.

To that end we are now asking for donations towards the cost of the flag.

Please donate what you can.

#57117 Need some help with this leak please guys?

Posted by JoeyBoyden on 09 August 2014 - 09:46 pm

Yeah, they'll be the same!

Think it's sorted now, went to my mates to pick up his old heater valve thing that only blew hot air, fitted it and it seems to have stopped the leak so all is good for now hopefully!

#56810 Think I should explain where I have been

Posted by Greg1.4 on 11 June 2014 - 06:19 pm

Thought I'd give here a little update! Seen my neurologist today, and she is pleased with the way I'm progressing, as my arms are stronger as are my eyelids (they test everywhere!!!). SO she has told me I can start cutting down my steroid dosage!!! I can knock of 5mg every month until I am down to 60mg every other day, so hopefully fairly soon I will notice less side effects from them (here's an example, since being on them I have put on over 3 stone!) so its all good with me at the minute.

#55767 Forum software licensing

Posted by trecoll on 20 November 2013 - 02:28 pm

Hi All,
In January (24th) our software license is due for renewal. This is a license to allow us access to upgrades for both for the forum system and store, more importantly this software license also keeps the anti-spam service active! As well as providing updates to the forum software as they are released (A big upgrade is due soon, 3.4.6->4.0)
Last time our renewal was due, I had forgotten to update the card details (this was July as it is a 6 month license) and the anti-spam service shut down. Within 2 days there were over 200 spam posts made on the forum!
As it is my choice to run the site, and use the server itself for other sites, I don't have any issue paying for the dedicated server we have (£17.99 a month) plus the domain renewal fee every couple of years (fiver at most!)
The issue is, the club actually ran out of money when we last paid the bill and we haven't recouped enough to be able to pay the license fee in January.
The bill will be $60, which at the moment, is just shy of £40. We have about £12.50 in the account.
The way I see it is we have four options;

  • Don't renew the license, have a hell of a lot of spam and out-dated forum software which will be more prone to attacks
  • Revert to free software, which isn't targetted as much by spammers, but will still have high hit counts and will loose a few features of this software
  • Close the forum altogether.
  • Raise some money, by way of Donations / Asking people to renew their membership who have let it lapse / Any other fund raising ideas

I'm aware there isn't much reason for keeping your membership active, as the guides are only so helpful, but the other sections are for members to use. The forum is what you make it.

When I raised the cost of membership earlier this year, I suggested the club was struggling to pay bills, this is why I decided to start paying the server costs myself.

If you so chose, you can donate as much or as little as you like in your client area, or by clicking this link: http://fordguides.co...ction=donations

Obviously, if we raise more than £40, that would be fantastic as it would save me needing to ask again come July!!

#52033 Pensioner Sense

Posted by jam53ice on 11 December 2012 - 11:21 am

A lawyer and a senior citizen are sitting next to each other on a long flight.

The lawyer is thinking that pensioners are so dumb that he could get one over on them easily.

So, the lawyer asks if the pensioner would like to play a fun game.

The pensioner is tired and just wants to take a nap, so he politely declines and tries to catch a few winks.

The lawyer persists, saying that the game is a lot of fun...."I ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me only £5.00. Then you ask me one, and if I don't know the answer, I will pay you £500.00," he says.

This catches the pensioner's attention and, to keep the lawyer quiet, he agrees to play the game.

The lawyer asks the first question. "What's the distance from the Earth to the Moon?"

The pensioner doesn't say a word, but reaches into his pocket, pulls out a five-Pound note, and hands it to the lawyer.

Now, it's the pensioner's turn. He asks the lawyer, "What goes up a hill with three legs, and comes down with four?"

The lawyer uses his laptop to search all references he can find on the Net.

He sends E-mails to all the smart friends he knows; all to no avail. After an hour of searching, he finally gives up.

He wakes the pensioner and hands him £500.00. The pensioner pockets the £500.00 and goes right back to sleep.

The lawyer is going nuts not knowing the answer. He wakes the pensioner up and asks, "Well, so what goes up a hill with three legs and comes down with four?"

The pensioner reaches into his pocket, hands the lawyer £5.00, and goes back to sleep.

#58544 Project: Camper

Posted by Medium on 10 May 2017 - 08:37 pm

Before we start, This isn't mine, it belongs to the missus; but I'm the one doing all the work, so it's still my project!
We have a couple of boxer dogs, so getting away for the weekend can be difficult to find an understanding B&B/cottage or even a campsite that accepts dogs can be tricky. Enter Project Camper:
2009, mk7 transit with 100k on the clock, in white (obviously)...
First task, side windows; fitted by a man not me this time:
Next job, SEATS!
These seats are awesome! Mk4 Mondeo Titanium X seats. Transit seats were not all that comfy, and just not that cool... so purchased a second single seat base (normally a bench for passengers) from the 'bay, knocked up a custom sub-from from 3mm box-section and:

Damn right the passenger seat swivels!
Insulated the interior with bubble foil suff, followed by celotex panels and expanding foam:
Carpet and flooring time, carpet lined the van, then wrapped the existing ply panels and re-installed them:
I'd have probably gone for black or grey, but she wanted beige and its her money so she gets beige...
Floor and floor underlay are left over from when I did our lounge, so bonus free mod!

Stretch carpet is actually pretty easy to work with, even the wheel arches wrapped ok. Next was the roof: ply wrapped in carpet (already insulated with celotex) with 4 LED spot lights:

Also done the hedlining in carpet:

Next up will be paint and install of cupboard units (another 'bay special...), wiring (got a second 'leisure' battery and pre-made wiring kit!), sink/hob and rock'n'roll bed.
Stay tuned...

#56012 TreColl's Mondeo ST TDCi

Posted by trecoll on 15 January 2014 - 10:19 am

She came home last night (again) this time with a perfect arse!

Got treated to a flat tyre this morning though :blub:

They've not been very good at holding pressure as they are so corroded, so that was the last straw and I'm going to Basildon on Saturday to pick up these

Standard Mondeo ST wheels, recently refurbished in "gun metal grey"
